This might be a reference to Emilie’s sister, Ann, living in Harrisburg. As the had in 1863, the Presbyterian Churches near Emilie’s residence offered weekly lectures throughout 1864.
Emilie’s church, First (Colored) Presbyterian, hosted lectures each Friday at 7 o’clock in the evening, and at nearby Central Presbyterian lectures took place each Thursday at 8 o’clock.
