Annotation 1

Ellwood Davis, Emilie’s nephew, was just four years old when he died of “conjestion of the brain.”

Elwood’s death certificate confirms the four-year old boy’s death on January 30, 1864, of “congestion of the brain.” Little Elwood’s death must have hit the family particularly hard. “Pennsylvania, Philadelphia City Death Certificates, 1803-1915,” index and images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JF89-RY1 : accessed 08 May 2013), Elwood O. Davis, 1864.
