very fine day i attended to considerable business in the afternoon vinc Nell and went to call on mr lively then to the lecture then to the fair

FRIDAY, 30.

beutiful day sue and Nell stoped to see me i have not had a visit from sue for a long while […] she spent the evening with Reading was here a long time Alf was i spent quite an agreeable day

SATURDAY, 31.

quite a heavy snow storm very disagreed it stoped snowing towards evening we made donation to mr gibbs this evening church was very gratefully received

Like other members of Philadelphia’s black community, Emilie participated in a number of festivities during the holiday season, like the concert she attended with Vincent on Wednesday, December 28th and the fair she attended on Thursday, December 29th. “City Notices,” The Christian Recorder, January 7, 1865.
