May, WEDNESDAY, 18, 1864.

my face is better to day lovely morning but rainy after noon Nell come up and spent a little while with me

THURSDAY, 19.

Pleasent i went down to Mr lively but did not take a lesson i went down there in the afternoon and staid their untill i went to the concert the concert was spleen

Annotation 1

A concert was held on May 17th, 1864 at National Hall, with performances by the pupils of Lombard St. Public School, (colored) Fifth Section.  The concert provided various patriotic musical numbers including solos, duets, quartets, and choruses.  Tickets for the event were twenty-five cents each and the proceeds benefitted the Sanitary Fair.  “Concert,” The Christian Recorder May 14, 1864.
