MEMORANDA.

Wednsday the 17th 1863 will be rememberd by a great many of our People nearly all of our best young men left for the war but happily returned the next day un harmed

Sarah Thomas was married on last Saturday the 20th of June

Monday the 29th the most exciting day ever witness by having Refugees line the streets from all the towns this side of

Residents of south central Pennsylvania fled the advancing Confederate troops.  Black Pennsylvanians were well-advised to evacuate, as Confederates seized hundreds African Americans and sold them into slavery.  Emilie also notes this event on June 29, 1863.
